Day 11, 12, 13 & 14….. HANGOVER!

[Posted June 18, 2013]

Well, what a messy few days it’s been—in more ways than one. It’s been ridiculous.

Where do I even start?

This past Friday, I had a complete nightmare trading. It started off well and seemed promising, but then the infamous ‘Bomber’ appeared and, in one instance, absolutely devastated me.

I was high-stakes scalping in the market when he shifted the price from 5.6 to about 4.0 in less than 20 seconds, taking all my stakes with it and leaving me nearly £300 out of pocket on just one race. I was absolutely fuming.

The day continued with more of the same, and I ended up down about £50 for the day. I also made another mistake in the Tsonga game… perhaps trying to learn tennis trading during this challenge wasn’t the best idea. However, I’m determined to keep at it. These things rarely come quickly!

It’s been a rollercoaster few days with a couple of hard hits due to sharp drops in price.

I took off this past Saturday and Sunday to attend a wedding I mentioned in earlier posts. It was fantastic—probably one of the best I’ve been to! However, celebrating until 3:30 AM with the groom left me quite hungover.

Consequently, Sunday trading was off the table. A wedding breakfast was on the agenda, but given the lively evening before, I decided it was best to skip trading.

Come Monday, I still wasn’t feeling great, and the racing cards didn’t look very promising. Nevertheless, I managed to pull myself to the computer to trade the evening cards, which turned out to be pretty decent.

The infamous ‘BOMBER’ showed his hand again, but this time his actions were more predictable as he systematically placed large bets on the favorite. This behavior made the market easier to read and profit from—evidently seen in my profit and loss record.

However, a costly mistake occurred in the last race. I had grown somewhat accustomed to his tactics and placed a considerable stake just before he withdrew his bet. The market went into chaos, as many other traders likely thought the same—’he’s just going to drag this down.’ The result was painful: ‘Ouch.’ It was definitely time to turn off the computer.

With Ascot starting today, I’m looking forward to it, although I’ve got my work cut out for me if I’m to hit this £10k target. I can’t afford any more time off for drinking—I’ve probably been indulging a bit too much.

  1. Hi Caan. Yep it’s the ‘Indecisive Kamikaze Bomber’. Noticed the large lumps flying about but as you mention he/she/they sometimes just pull it from the market at the last minute and then it’s every man for himself. Every time it popped up yesterday it seemed to cause confusion as to whether he/she/they wanted it matched or not? It’s definitely either manipulation or someone with too much cash because most of the time they are matched they’re getting it wrong and doing their dough I think?

And remember, beer is made for drinking so sounds like you had a cracking time at the wedding!

No doubt you’ll smash into Ascot!

    Cheers – Dave.

  2. Cheers dave, hope i pick up soon!!

Daniel, he has been about sporadically for the last week… sometimes its really helpful but others you have to be careful as it can be disasterous as you can see!!
