World Cup Last 16 Day 2: Betfair Trading Qatar 2022

England’s time at the World Cup knockouts. As expected, looking at how the draw would go, they face Senegal and there’s only one question on Twitter… will the ITV curse strike again? Lol!

If you aren’t aware of the ITV curse, the stats are remarkable. 12 wins from 16 games on BBC and only 2 wins from 15 on ITV. Hide behind the couch time?

The schedule for Day 2 of the Last 16 is:

  • France v Poland 3 pm
  • England v Senegal 7 pm

France v Poland Trading Options 3 pm:

We had some incredible results this week. All the big names that felt they were certain of top spot failed to win. France, Spain, Portugal and Brazil. Remarkable. Some of them made some changes, some a lot of changes. France made a lot of changes, and toe be honest I wouldn’t be bothered at all by their loss to Tunisia. They were recording some seriously impressive xG figures in their first two games and it was a nice position to be in to rest players for their third game.

These are the type of games that can be difficult to trade. I think France will hammer Poland. The stats and performances are there. Poland are there for the taking. They “only” conceded twice to Argentina but they conceded an xG of 3.72. They also conceded an xG of 2.25 against Saudi Arabia. France finished their first two games with 4.59 and 2.95. I’m staying away from the goals market here but I like France in the win market and maybe some fancy handicaps at half-time too. When you fancy a side so much, like I do here, it’s difficult because the market is always working against you. I’m going to mainly focus on trying to get on France at compression points within the market, and then if they lead 1-0 at half-time I can see them banging in a couple of goals in the second half. There could be some very nice strategies from the Football Course to use in the second half if indeed they lead 1-0 at the break. Confident on the France win here; just about timing the market.

England v Senegal Trading Options 7 pm:

Tempting to go out. England on a Sunday evening, very tempting indeed. Senegal haven’t been too solid at the back so far this tournament, but I do fancy a cagey start here. England at 1.58 feels a few ticks too short in my opinion. I can see a 0-0 at half-time here, and then it’s just about England grinding out a result in the second half. Under 2.5 goals is 1.67 and my plan is to get in and out of that market within the opening 20 minutes – allowing at least five minutes for play to develop and make sure everything lines up too. Senegal will defend, and I can see Southgate going a little cagey early on. Don’t underestimate Senegal, they will cause England problems. I fancy a relatively boring first half and then (hopefully!) England can win it in the second half. Going to also have a very small stake on 0-0 correct score early to trade down.
