World Cup Last 16 Day 3: Betfair Trading Qatar 2022

The Last 16 continues on Monday. No doubt Brazil will take the headlines today! The racing is always bang average on Monday’s and Tuesday’s and this week is no different, so I’m looking forward to the next two days.

The World Cup has been thoroughly enjoyable so far. Do let me know how your trading has been going in the comments below!

The schedule for Monday is:

  • Japan v Croatia 3 pm
  • Brazil v South Korea 7 pm

Japan v Croatia Trading Options 3 pm:

Not exactly an exciting tie here. This was supposed to be either Spain or Germany, but Japan had other ideas! To top a group with Spain and Germany in it is amazing scenes really. Especially after they lost to Costa Rica after beating Germany! Croatia were very lucky to get a result against Belgium and get here, Belgium battered them, but Lukaku didn’t want to score. I lost count how many chances he missed, but Belgium finished the game with an xG of 3.22. When I look at the Croatia performances, I really want to take them on but it’s not ideal relying on Japan. This is definitely a game for small stakes, unfortunately. It’s a shame when the racing is so average to not have a strong opinion on this game, but this is where discipline kicks in. There’s no point chasing anything here.

I’m definitely staying out of the Under/Over 2.5 goals market because the stats don’t point to anything there. These two haven’t been reliable in that regard either. The best option to me seems to be laying Croatia at the right time, but before we get involved, we’re going to have to see how Japan starts the game. Maybe this is one of the accelerated time decay in the second half.

Brazil v South Korea Trading Options 7 pm:

I’m sure plenty of people enjoyed the scenes of Luis Suárez crying as South Korea beat Portugal the other night! Karma for that handball eh? I was a fan of Uruguay, and it’s a shame that they couldn’t make it here as it would have been a much more interesting game. Brazil are heavy odds on favourites and they have backed it up on the pitch too. They might have lost to Cameroon in their final group game but you only have to look at the xG figure to see how unlucky they were there. No opinion on the match odds market here, but Brazil should win. They have been very solid at the back, so if South Korea set up very negative, we might see a quiet start here. I’ll watch the opening ten minutes and see how we start, but the early under 2.5 goals trade might be an option here. Nothing else fits from the Football Course really. A pretty quiet day eh..
