The 2024 European Championships in Germany are only a matter of weeks away now, and already, people are talking up the nations that have a chance of winning the tournament. As always, a country with a consistent goalscorer has a great chance of success, and here are the players who could run out as the top scorer at Euro 2024.
Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe has just announced he will depart PSG at the end of the current season, and his next destination looks set to be Real Madrid. But, before making the move to Spain, the French attacker, like his nation, is tipped to win the Golden Boot if the Euro 2024 betting odds are anything to go by. Mbappe, who does his best work from the left wing, has been in prolific form for his club this term, scoring over forty goals in all competitions, and the twenty-five-year-old has all the attributes to fire France to success in Germany.
Harry Kane
England, once again, are expected to challenge at the Euros, especially after losing out on penalties in the final of the last European Championships to Italy. While Gareth Southgate has a plethora of quality in his squad, Harry Kane is the go-to for those all-important goals, and The Three Lions will be heavily reliant on him to deliver the goods once again. The thirty-year-old swapped Spurs for Bayern Munich last summer, and he’s hit the ground running, breaking goalscoring records in the Bundesliga.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo may be thirty-nine years old, and he may be plying his trade in the Suadi Pro League, but he’s not lost his goalscoring touch, and he’s still a key player for Portugal. If it was anyone else but Ronaldo, he probably wouldn’t feature as high up the odds list or in this write-up. But the Al-Nassr captain remains a big game player and, more importantly, a big game goalscorer. He’s racked up 128 goals in 206 senior appearances for his country, and he’ll no doubt be adding to this out in Germany, which will probably be his final international tournament.
Romelu Lukaku
At one time, Belgium were expected to be the dominant force at international competitions, especially the European Championships, but they’ve never quite lived up to expectations. Romelu Lukaku, 30, has always been a consistent performer and goalscorer for his country, with eighty-three goals scored so far. The Belgian may have been hit and miss at club level in front of goal throughout his club career, but the same doesn’t apply at international level, and he’ll be the striker Domenico Tedesco looks to this summer.
Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata, 31, like other strikers on this list, will captain his country, Spain, in Germany at Euro 2024. And not only does the Atletico Madrid forward have the responsibility of leading the team out, but he’s Spain’s number one marksman, and they’ll need him to score the goals if they’re to have success at the Euros. Morata has scored twenty goals in all competitions at club level this season for Atletico and will now hope to transfer that form to the international scene.
