November, when the markets heat up…

At last! Octember is out the way…

If you’ve been trading for any length of time, you’ll know October and September are often quite uneventful. There’s still opportunity on offer, although it’s not quite the same as the following few months.

On the whole, the last two months have been the best October/September I’ve had yet, so I can’t complain. I’m certainly looking forward to the jumps heating up now though.

With Christmas just around the corner it can improve quite an interesting time. I’m not sure quite how I’ll handle it this year, but with two son’s getting older it could be tricky.

In recent year’s I’ve disappeared on Boxing Day afternoon to get stuck in the markets, it’s hard not to as the markets are very active, although they’re only that age once… and it contradicts the whole reason I wanted to get into trading initially…

This month we’ll see a few of the super-star horses emerging once more. Keeping the excitement and trading separate is a very real issue (particularly if you can’t) but I do always enjoy the buzz more around the jumps season. Any horses you’re looking forward to reappearing?

The first couple of runs after a break away can be quite influential on the ante-post markets. Much like the odds changing on follow-up games when a start player is injured in-game. The situation changes, and so the odds have to… pretty much fastest finger first!

Just the other year I remember catching a price on Big Fella Thanks at Aintree as he won at Cheltenham, there was obviously several of us scrambling to get on but it turned out to be a very nice move.

If you’ve never done it before, watch the prices for follow up races as they appear for their first run back. You won’t be alone, I assure you…
