With less than two weeks to Christmas, the racing schedule isn’t so popular.
However, there’s still some decent opportunity up for grabs this week (Saturday the 14th).
Here’s a quick overview of those ‘bright spots’ you may want to focus on…

Saturday Trading:
There are 5 daytime cards and 1 evening card today. The 3 cards of interest will be:
- Cheltenham
- Doncaster
- Hereford
Those in bold have races featuring on ITV. Increased coverage often indicates better liquidity, ushering the general public’s attention in the process. Newcastle and Wolverhampton take place on the All-Weather surface and Fairyhouse over the water in Ireland.
For traders, the main issue will be overlaps between Cheltenham and Newcastle. It may be better to skip some of the races up north as Cheltenham is scheduled to go off 5 minutes prior.
All-in-all, we’re on the wind-down to Christmas now. It’s not a highest-profile racing day so probably best to approach with lower expectations.
In previous years I have found these Saturday’s ‘a bit marmite’. Much like the Saturday after Cheltenham in March. They can swing either way, but you’ll have no clue until after!
My Focus:
Today my attention won’t be targetted on the race-cards. I’m off to meet up with some other pro traders for a Christmas beer, in particular, Cricket traders!
If the Pro Betfair Traders Event in February was anything to go by, it could get messy, very messy. Hopefully it won’t take us a day to re-locate Mr Iverson this time around…
