Goodwood, Friday!

horseracing

Goodwood is always a bit unpredictable; the pendulum can swing either way.

Typically, it’s an event with increased liquidity, offering more opportunities than usual. However, as the flat season nears its end, expectations often become heightened—sometimes unrealistically so.

I must admit, I’m included among those with elevated expectations…

FRIDAY

After a long week fraught with heat and distractions, I managed to push through the daytime card at Goodwood.

It wasn’t as rewarding as I had hoped, but I tend to set high targets for myself.

Today, the market fill at Goodwood was pretty good, but unfortunately, I ended up making a total of -£237 in silly mistakes. Considering I only participated in the afternoon’s racing, that’s quite disappointing. The mistakes weren’t frequent, but when they occurred, they were substantial, likely due to increased stakes. Perhaps ramping up the stakes under these conditions was a mistake. Embracing humility and consistency tends to be far more reliable.

Interestingly, liquidity at Thirsk was more fluent than I expected, given it was the race card before Goodwood.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to a long break as I have my son with me. I can’t wait, as this week has really dragged on—probably because it’s the first full week of work I’ve done in a while!

Today’s Result:

…and for the last 7 days.

I was hoping to have an interesting update for you all today, particularly those who are in that horrible middle ground of knowing how to trade but not really making any consistency of it!

It looks like it may not be until tomorrow or Monday at the very latest but it won’t be long so keep checking for the next update.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

  1. Hi Caan!

Amazing results! I would like to ask you something so maybe you can help me! ;-D. I trade racing horses from outside the UK! Checking my test velocity, my PING is between 125-130 and my download speed 2.5-3MB. Do you think this is a bad result? I don’t know if I am the last one “to see” for example a change of movement and I can be in a clear disadvantage with other traders…Can you help me?

The best blog! Have a nice day! ;-D

  2. Hi Anon,

When i first started trading i only had a 1mb connection and my ping was slower… i wouldnt say it matters too much as your miliseconds behind. If your of a level using large stakes particularly at the big meetings throughout the year though it would be a minor worry for me if you connection was any slower. But i wouldnt worry too much as thats acceptable.

    Cheers

    Caan
